On my art table: Handmade Journal

Before I started art journaling, I was an avid journaler. In fact, I still am. There’s something about writing, about paying attention to each day, that draws me back to the journal.

The journal is a sacred place for me, which is why I’ve always been drawn to beautiful notebooks. But there’s something really special about handmade journals, don’t you think?

This here notebook is sitting on my bedside table, and it’s filled with ideas for some really cool handmade journals. Most of these are ideas and designs I’ve never tried before, and I’m super excited to start working on them! And since I know I’m going to end up binding way more journals than I can possibly use, I’m going to be putting them up for sale!

I’ll be sharing photographs on Instagram, so follow me there if you don’t already. And if you want to be the first to know when my hand made journals are available for sale, sign up for my monthly newsletter, Gypsy Wanderings. Subscribers will get first dibs!

Thank you so much for joining me on this journey into my art journals. I hope you’ve enjoyed this little showcase of my art. And do let me know if you’d like to continue to look into the covers of my journals more regularly, because I’d love to share what I’m creating with you!

  1. This is so cool. You are inspiring me with every post of yours! Love how you use things readily available in your home.

    • I have so many notebooks lying safely in my cupboard because they’re too pretty to write in! But, I am on a mission to change that. Pretty notebooks should be used too! 🙂

    • I used to be like you, a long time ago. But I figured the best way to indulge and justify my love for buying journals is to write in them! On a serious note, journaling saved my life – so I write. A lot! 🙂

  2. All you have to do is get a journal or even any type of notebook and start writing with either a pen, a pencil, or even paint!!! I love this idea because it’s just a way to think back on your life which I think is important. You see, there’s something intimate about the experience of putting pen to paper and seeing ideas manifest themselves (spilt ink) into the physical realm right before your eyes – it’s nearly magical .
