5 self-care rituals purely for pleasure

Here we are, in the last week of this self-care journey. I hope you have had the chance to incorporate some self-care in your life this month. Let’s wrap it up with some self-care rituals that bring us pleasure, shall we?

5 self-care rituals for pleasure

5 self-care rituals for pleasure

1. Indulge your cravings: Food cravings, I mean. Why have we made food our number 1 enemy? It is the fuel that sustains us, it gives us immense pleasure and comfort. So why do we fight it? Yes, eating sensibly is important, but yelling at yourself or punishing yourself for eating chocolate cake? That’s a habit you should throw out the window, pronto! Enjoy your cake, and your kale! That’s the key to pleasure.

2. Caress yourself: With some body lotion! It’s the one thing we tend to dispense with when we are in a hurry, but all it takes is five minutes. Your skin will thank you for it.

3. Do something you love: Everyday, if you can. Making time for our hobby is one of the best things we can do for to improve our overall quality of life. If you can’t do it everyday, do it most days. Try it for a month and see the difference it makes! {I’m trying it for the entire year, with the Pocket Full of Art project}

4. Laugh out loud: Pop your favorite comedy into the DVD player {The Birdcage does it for me every single time} or catch a stand-up comedy act in town. Laughter is the best medicine there is

5. Get up and boogie: There’s nothing more fun than cranking up the music and having an impromptu dance party right in your living room! Can I hear a round of applause for exercise that doesn’t even feel like exercise?

So, what are your favorite self-care rituals? Tell me in the comments!

  1. Mine is running, not just for the health and wellness benefits but it really gives me a chance to clear my mind and release my frustrations.

    • Yes, I can see how that would work. I like baking for that reason, beating cake batter can really help you release frustration. Hmm…I wonder if that’s one reason why the end product is almost always flawed! 😉

  2. I love to sing! Singing always makes me happier! Dancing around my house is always a great way to destress too! And eating nice expensive dark chocolate makes me feel spoilt and indulgent. Lovely post, makes me feel happy reading it! #mg

    • Oh yeah! I hum quite a lot while fixing breakfast and getting ready. It’s more an indicator of how happy/stress-free I am! A square of dark chocolate is my favorite (almost) daily indulgence. 🙂

  3. Yes, I try to do most of them quite often. But… now here’s a but.! What about the cravings that never fail to leave? Sometimes it’s the scrumptious chocolate cake, next it’s the cold coffee, then there is pizza, and then choco-pie and then indian sweets too!! What do we do about that? And that is why we need to yell at ourselves! 😛

    Cheers

    • hahah! Instead of yelling, try a little bit of control. One indulgence a week. Easier said than done, I know! 😉

  4. These are all lovely ideas – my list includes a bit watching the sky and birds, some photography, looking after my plants, A cup of ginger tea and reading 🙂
Such a happy post this is!

    • Yes, yes you can! Never say never to chocolate ice-cream. And when it’s home made, you don’t even need permission 😉

  5. Birdcage is a sure way to catch up on the laughter. Happy to note I am doing all five things and more to indulge my myself!! {Eating a tub full of strawberries, left over from making the lemon strawberry cheesecake which is for later 😉 } Cheers to self love!!

  6. I read ‘eat cake for breakfast if you want’ and that’s all I need.
My self- care ritual is just figuring out some me-time. I also seem to find myself more relaxed when I can make others laugh – might be a weird thing to add here though.

    • I’m sure, eating cake at any time of the day would bring a huge grin to your face 😉 And that’s interesting – feeling relaxed when you can make others laugh – that’s a first for sure!

  7. For me it is reading, music and a walk. I try to make time to read at least one page of a book everyday. It feels so much better. I liked all the things you have mentioned in this post 🙂

    • Yes, that’s almost always the problem – the simplest things are always left behind in the mad dash of the daily grind. 🙂
