If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m feeling tired and drained. This month has been hard – work has been crazy – so crazy that I’ve been pulling in long hours even though I haven’t been feeling too well. Added to that, I’ve been looking after a sick furbaby {who is now well, thank heavens!}, and I haven’t really felt the spirit of Diwali, which is one of my favorite festivals.

But despite this craziness, and even though I am feeling tired and drained, I would tell you that I am chugging along just fine. And for that, I have The Mindful Break to thank. Remembering to pause, to breathe, to look up from my computer screen, is what helps me keep my sanity.

And scrolling through the hashtag stream on Instagram fills my heart with joy. There’s so much beauty, so much joy, so much peace being shared there everyday!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m currently reading Indu Suderasan’s The Mountain of Light. The book traces the story of the Kohinoor diamond, starting with how Maharajah Ranjit Singh acquired the diamond from the king of Afghanistan, Shah Shuja, to its loss to the British Empire after the Maharajah’s death. It’s fascinating, this bringing to life of history, combing historical fact with artistic license to create a work of historical fiction.

If we were having cofeee…what would you tell me?

  1. If we were having coffee I would tell you that fall has arrived and I am so enjoying the cooler temps, the changing leaves, the corn mazes and pumpkin patches. 🙂 I’d also tell you that I am swamped with orders for Christmas and swamped with my own Christmas gifts! – If we were having coffee I would tell you to have a fabulous weekend and that I hope you’re feeling better very soon.

  2. If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that October has gone by in the wink of an eye. It’s been busy, I couldn’t speak for 10 days , I too didn’t feel festive enough but I’m grateful that I have so much to keep me going !

  3. If we were having a coffee, I would tell you that after a long long time I’ve been watching movies on Netflix. Watched Shootout at Lokhandwala, Pink, Kya Kool Hai Hum, Teen & Raees all in a week. Mind feels refreshed! After all, all work and no play makes jack irritable ?

  4. I’m with you when it comes to not feeling the spirit of Diwali this year. It just wasn’t the same. I hope your fur baby is better now. The mindful break has been a ray of required sunshine. It’s been a wonderful initiative. 🙂

  5. If we were having coffee I would tell you- the initial days of staying away from my family and the pangs of loneliness are vanishing slowly- I had decided to make the most of this trip and I am glad I am able to put aside the things that bother me, travel alone and enjoy it and love the flavour of life. Diwali had indeed been hard on you- but as always you are a very positive and bubbly person- its infectious. Keep up the spirit

  6. If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am finding my footing in a new city slowly but steadily. Life is beautiful and I am trying to live each day with positivity.

  7. If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my phone had conked off and so I couldn’t post pics for the mindful break . But I did remember to stop and become aware. I would tell you that my poor fur baby is terrified with the crackers and I am at my wits end because I cannot leave her alone at home, so I am house bound too. I would tell you that I am enjoying the Write Tribe Problogger 2017 challenge, not just because I am writing regularly again but because I have come across wonderful bloggers and look forward to reading their posts.

  8. If we were having coffee I’d tell you I just returned from a mindful vacation minus any phone connectivity, savouring only the cool sea breeze and soaking myself in the salty sea waters. End of September and October to begin with had been a whirlwind roller coaster ride of challenges, but the month so far seems to be wrapping up on a more relaxed note. Amen to that!
Very intrigued by the book you are reading. Would love to read it too.

  9. If we were having coffee, I would tell you that i just returned from an awesome all women trip to Dubai. I would also love to tell you that my life is being blessed with family, friends, food, fun and laughter.
