Day 20 of #getmessymay with @supermamadesvosges The prompt was Trust.

Trust can be quite a loaded word, I think. Especially at a time when you are contemplating a big change. Something that feels especially significant. There’s the excitement of planning, yes, but there’s also fear, so much fear!

There’s a need to trust the process with a simultaneous inability to trust it.

But if we just keep taking one step after another, and noticing how we slowly start to gather momentum, the fear will slowly subside.

That is my wish for you. And for me.

May we find a way to trust even in the dark places.

May we focus on simply taking the next step.

May we mother our tender selves at every step of the way.

May we continue onwards even when we doubt ourselves (because you can bet that doubt will raise its head).

May we notice when we start to gather momentum.

May we keep on gathering pace.

And so it is. For you. And for me.

Some days, no words are necessary. Just the tactil

Some days, no words are necessary. Just the tactile feeling of putting down layers of paint, scratching into the surface, and making marks are enough.

Especially when the day feels leaden, when stress weighs heavily on my mind. On those days, losing myself in the process helps me find myself again.

The anxiety seems to falls away, my mind expands, and my breath deepens, one paint stroke, one mark at a time.

Note to self: Remember to play!

I’ve been bitten — again — by the writing bug. Journaling, brainstorming, writing, blogging, setting up and tweaking Substack publications and editing and designing websites.

All of it is just SO MUCH FUN! ButAndAlso I am missing my arty play dates.

There’s something about the tactile nature of paints and pencils and paper that seems to activate a completely different part of my brain, helping to gently quieten down the thousand and one thoughts that typically zoom around in my brain.
