New collection: Sands of Time

Sands of Time is a collection of abstract expressionism and figurative abstract paintings, through which I aim to capture the timeless essence of some of my favorite Persian and Urdu poets: Rumi, Hafiz, Khayyam, Kaifi, and more.

Exploring the contours of their poetry through color, texture, and mark making; scratching into the surface, adding and hiding words within the layers of paint and in plain sight; I attempt to infuse each painting with the essence of their words as I feel and experience them, while exploring the layers of meaning that have been lost over time and space.

The painting process itself could take a few days, but the conceptualization takes as long as it takes – days, weeks, months…perhaps years? New paintings will be added to this collection over time.
