December 2019: Tarot spread for the full moon in Gemini

Tarot spread for the December 2019 full moon in Gemini

The December 2019 full moon falls in the sign of Gemini. The Gemini archetype is very curious, an excellent communicator, and a disseminator of knowledge. It is the sign of the writer, of those who tend to think deeply, are highly perceptive, and prefer to learn from experience.

Spiritually, the Gemini archetype is about courageous conversation, be it with another person or with the Universe. Gemini adds its vibration to the advancement of culture and civilization through conversation, be that via books or blogs or letters.

The December full moon also highlights our foundations and roots. Our closest relationships. The things and people that feel like home. While the end of the year shopping and Christmas frenzy can frazzle our nerves, this Gemini moon asks us to focus on the warm, comforting, cozy vibe that is the essence of this time of the year.

As you focus on your relationships and your closest circle of friends and family, let it be with an attitude of gratitude and a feeling of ease. The December full moon really is about celebrating everything that has happened so far this year, so do spend some time acknowledging all that you have achieved and accomplished.

Astro-Tarot influences for the December full moon

To throw some more light on the December full moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation.

The Gemini new moon falls in decan 2, which is represented by the 9 of Swords. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Lovers, which is associated with Gemini.

The 9 of Swords represents our anxieties and fears. The ones that can keep us awake at night or have us losing sleep as we grapple with stressful situations. The Lovers represents love in all its forms, not just romantic. At its essence, it’s about conscious connections and meaningful relationships with others and with yourself.

Given the time of the year we are in, this, then, highlights the anxiety that this season can bring. And it also points to a rephrase, if we can see it. Often times, our anxiety is caused by the pressure we put on ourselves to achieve certain things or be a certain way. More often than not, these ideas of how we should show up or behave, stem from the subtle and not-so-subtle messages that our society and culture puts on us. And as the year is winding to a close, it can also bring on a guilt wave as we take stock of what we have achieved – or haven’t – during the year.

So what is the reframe to this conundrum we find ourselves in? It’s simply this: would our friends and loved ones rather see us relaxed and enjoying the season, or half-crazed and out of our mind with anxiety? Is it more important to show up for those we love in a caring and comforting and nurturing environment, or to have the perfect gifts/parties/dinner setting?

As for the litany of ways in which we failed at making anything of ourselves this year, what if we take the time to really reflect on the year gone by. On our achievements and failings. On the things that went well and the things that didn’t. And on finding ways to make things better next year?

Approaching things with a more constructive mindset is always the path of more ease. And just to make it clear, ease doesn’t necessarily mean easy.

Working with the moon

The full moon is a time of completion. The intentions that you set at the new moon are ready to be birthed into the world. The full moon illuminates the fruits of the work you’ve done towards achieving your new moon intention and to make any tweaks as necessary. This is a good time to release any negative emotions, habits, thoughts, beliefs and to look within and shift any blocks and old patterns that don’t serve you any more.

I tap into the energy of the full moon to call in and celebrate the sign’s qualities in myself; to release any related limiting beliefs; and to express gratitude for whatever is coming up.
