Plus an astrology and tarot forecast, Womanrunes reading and journaling questions for the Virgo full moon lunar eclipse.

The March 2026 full moon lunar eclipse falls in the sign of Virgo. The Virgo archetype is logical and practical, with an eye for detail and the steadfastness to go after their goals. This is a sign that thrives on meticulous planning, on honing skills to perfection and gaining mastery over their chosen vocation.
Spiritually, the Virgo archetype teaches the principle of devotion. One way to understand this principle is by looking at it through the lens of one’s devotion to their craft. While all the buzz seems to point towards profiting from your passion, there are numerous examples of famous writers and artists who held down a day job for most of their lives. Franz Kafka was an insurance clerk, Harper Lee was an airline ticketing agent, Mark Rothko was an elementary school teacher and Paul Gauguin was a stockbroker. They could all have given in to the dull drudgery of making a living, but they didn’t — and the world is much richer for their devotion to their craft.
We have the second eclipse of this season, wiht a total lunar eclipse that will be visible from Asia, Australia, and North America. This is the last total lunar eclipse until the December 2028/January 2029 New Year’s Blood Moon Eclipse.
Lunar eclipses typically bring endings and closure, helping us to release things that no longer serve us. Expect sudden changes in consciousness, intuitive insights, and pattern-breaking a-has around this time. The seeds that you planted six months ago, at the solar eclipse, will also start to blossom around this time.
This Virgo moon also highlights your voyage of self-discovery: who you are, who you’re becoming, how do you realize your best self? It’s an excellent time to shine some light on your unique personality traits, the things about yourself that you want to change, and perhaps more importantly, to consider how you can achieve your goals while working with yourself {your strengths, vision, etc.} rather than against yourself {following “conventional” advice, which may or may not be serving you}.
Astrology and tarot influences for the March 2026 lunar eclipse in Virgo
To throw some more light on the astrology of this full moon lunar eclipse, let’s take a look at the astrology and tarot influences of this lunation. The Virgo full moon falls in decan 2, which is represented by the 9 of Pentacles. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Hermit, which is associated with Virgo.

Some days you pull a tarot card and… nothing.
You stare at it, wondering what it’s trying to tell you — and whether you’re even asking the right questions.
If that’s you, Conversations with the Soul: 365 Tarot Journaling Prompts for Reflection and Renewal will change the way you read your cards.
It gives you a full year of thoughtful, creative prompts that help your readings feel richer, clearer, and more personal — one card, one question, one moment of insight at a time.
The figures on both of these cards represent journeys — one inward, the other outward. The Hermit, holding up his lamp, is concerned mainly with the next step of his journey. Step-by-diligent-step he arrives, finally, at his destination. For The Hermit, this is often an inward journey — representing a period of quiet solitude and spiritual development.
The 9 of Pentacles represents an outward journey that is almost complete. It represents the months and, perhaps, years of hard work and focused dedication required to achieve mastery over something or towards the attainment of a long-held goal. At this point of the journey, you’re probably ready to reap the sweet reward of your labor.
Which journey do you identify with at this time? Maybe you’re close to achieving a goal, or are you in a time of flux, looking inward as you continue to grow? Or maybe you recognize yourself in both these figures — perhaps you’re in the liminal space that follows the achievement of a goal you’ve long worked towards. Or maybe you’re nearing the end of a goal and are unsure if it still aligns with who you are.
This Virgo lunar eclipse could reveal subtle misalignments between effort and meaning, productivity and purpose. Take a moment to pause and assess if the path you’re currently on feels aligned, and see if you need to make any changes or refinements to come back into alignment.
From an astrological lens, the Moon forms a supportive sextile with the planet of abundance, Jupiter, offering a broader perspective and a sense of generosity. This aspect encourages you to view your journey with compassion, to recognize how far you’ve come, and to trust that small recalibrations now can lead to meaningful growth later on.
The moon is also opposite the planet of communication, Mercury. Pay attention to your mental chatter around this time. You may notice doubts rising to the forefront, scattered thinking, or an overly negative internal monologue. When you notice it, pause. Question your internal narratives and try to tap into a more grounded, wiser version of yourself.
Grounding and some mindful breathing will be especially important and helpful around this Virgo eclipse.
Womanrunes for the March 2026 lunar eclipse in Virgo
Every full moon, I will draw a Womanrune for us, as a theme, a learning, a focus point for the days until the next full moon rolls around. This month, I drew Rune 15: The Whole Moon. Rune of Psyche.
I absolutely love this Womanrune for us at this time! During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon is not illuminated as it usually is by the sun, but neither is it in complete darkness. Instead, it’s softly illuminated by the light that filters through Earth’s atmosphere.
The Whole Moon reflects this cosmic dance, reminding us that though we may be unable to see mamma moon at this time, she’s still there, shining softly in the night sky. In this way, this Womanrune is a reminder that what is temporarily hidden from view isn’t lost, it’s simply moving through the swamplands of the soul {or psyche}.
Something may be stirred in our shadow around this lunation. Patterns may come up to be broken or refracted. Insights may arise through dreams, sudden realizations, or subtle emotional shifts, so pay attention to them.
The Whole Moon reminds us that psychological growth often requires ambiguity, uncertainty, and even disorientation. We need to learn to trust what is unfolding beneath the surface before it becomes fully visible. This isn’t always easy, but sitting with the discomfort of unanswered questions may be necessary at this time.
The Womanrunes were created by Shekhinah Mountainwater in 1987. There were originally no written interpretations available for these runes, other than the name and one word meanings, which offer tremendous scope for personal interpretation. The remastered original hand drawn Womanrunes can be purchased here. Molly Remer subsequently wrote Womanrunes: A Guide to Their Use and Interpretation, based on her own meditations and interpretations of the runes. Her book is available on Amazon and Etsy.
