Tarot spread; astrology and tarot forecast; and ritual for the March 2026 new moon in Pisces

The March 2026 new moon falls in the sign of Pisces. The Pisces archetype is highly intuitive and very open to the flow of creative imagination. This is the sign of creative dreamers and mystics and visionaries, which makes this new moon an excellent time to flex your intuitive and creative muscles.

Spiritually, the Pisces archetype teaches the principle of unity, of recognizing the divinity within you. One way to understand this principle is by looking at creation – the creator {God, Universe, Source, however you wish to name it} created this earth, the rivers and seas, the trees, birds, insects, animals, man. Similarly, man has the ability to create – and to create consciously. It is this ability that points to the spiritual truth of Pisces, that we are spiritual beings having a human experience {with the emphasis on our humanness in all its frailty and beauty}. It is by accepting responsibility for consciously creating – which isn’t always easy – that you connect most deeply with the creator. Needless to say, empathy and compassion are the cornerstones of the Pisces archetype.

This new moon also marks a time of endings and new beginnings. It can bring up old issues, patterns, or blocks for another go-around or a final resolution. Healing work — be it therapy or self-healing techniques — will be helpful during this time. Spend some time to review where you have been focusing your attention and decide where you want to go from there.

Look at the things that are working, the things that aren’t, the things that you’ve been desperately wanting to make work, and see if they are truly important to you, or if you’ve bought into a collective story that simply does not work for you.

Also pay attention to any sudden insights during this moon cycle. Keep track of your dreams and find some way to tap into your intuition on the regular. Consider drawing a daily oracle or tarot card, especially during this moon cycle.

Astrology and tarot influences for the March 2026 new moon in Pisces

To throw some more light on the March new moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astrology and tarot influences of this lunation. The Pisces new moon falls in decan 3, which is represented by the Ten of Cups. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Moon, which is associated with Pisces.

There are times when I wonder at the fragility of life. One day, things seem perfect, or at least good, and in the blink of an eye, disaster can strike. Sometimes, everything that I do, everything that I worry over, everything that I plan for feels frivolous, pointless. All my dreams can be snatched away at any moment. All my hopes crushed under a tyrant’s boot.

But that despair, that sense of hopelessness, is something that I am constantly fighting against. Yes, life as I know it could end at any moment. And I want to suck the marrow out of every moment of it — the joy, the beauty, the playfulness, even the heartbreak.

And so I paint and write and dream and plan…

That’s the 10 of Cups and the Moon in a nutshell. A constant dance between illusion and reality…between our anxieties and our lived experience.

The reminder with this Pisces new moon is to look at the world outside our windows, at our tiny patch of earth. To look towards our neighborhood and our communities. To be more aware of what is happening within our locus of control, rather than letting the world’s worries consume us completely.

This theme is echoed with what’s happening in the stars. With the moon conjunct Neptune and Saturn, we will feel a slight tension between dreams {or illusions} and reality. The visionary, intuitive quality of Neptune tempered by the structure, accountability and long-term commitment of Saturn. If you’ve been wanting to commit to a creative or spiritual practice, this is a good time to begin.

The moon is also sextile the planet of change, Uranus. Expect small shifts in perspective, which can open new possibilities, especially around creative expression or personal freedom.

This Pisces new moon invites us to pierce through illusions and dedicate ourselves to what feels meaningful and true, and can help us kickstart a new or renewed creative practice or spiritual rhythm.

This rainforest tree has been used by indigenous Southeast Asians for thousands of years as a poultice to treat wounds as well as a treatment for stress, fever, pain, and more. The fresh leaves of the Mitraynia tree are often chewed for energy and stamina throughout the day, and was revered by monks as it assisted them during long periods of meditation by providing focused attention and positive energy. “Kratom”, as it as also known, gained popularity in the 19th century as a curative treatment for withdrawal from opium addiction.

Mitraynia teaches us how to shapeshift and adapt, giving us the power to break through the illusionary facade we often accept as reality, helping us to break through limiting illusions.

Note: I am not a herbal practitioner, and the herbs that I choose for us on each new moon are not meant to be ingested. If you own a copy of the Herbal Astrology Oracle, you can place the card on your altar. Alternately, you can find a photograph of the herb and paint or sketch it in your journal while you reflect on its healing properties and how they may resonate with you.

Ritual for the new moon in Pisces

For this new moon, I offer you a simple ritual to help you release what’s no longer aligned and recommit to what feels meaningful.

You will need:

A small bowl of water
A piece of paper
Sketchbook or journal
Watercolor paints or colored pencils
Pen {preferably an ink pen, but any pen will do}.

The ritual:

Find a comfortable spot where you won’t be disturbed. Place the bowl of water in front of you and have the rest of the tools for this ritual within reach.

Allow yourself a few moments of stillness as you sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths.

On a piece of paper, write down something you are ready to release — a worry, an expectation, an old story, or something you’ve been trying to force. Fold the paper loosely and place it in the bowl of water as a symbolic act of letting that burden soften and dissolve. If you used an ink pen, the ink might wash off somewhat by the end of the ritual.

Take a moment to reflect on what feels meaningful to you right now. It doesn’t need to be anything grand. You might ask yourself:

What do I want to create or nurture at this time?

As you reflect on this question, open your sketchbook or journal and start to make some marks on the page using your watercolors or color pencils.

Let colors, shapes, or symbols emerge naturally. Try not to analyze or control what you are creating, just let the image unfold. Think of this as a conversation with your intuition rather than an art project. Abstract marks or doodles are perfect.

As you keep the question at the back of your mind, if any words/impressions/ideas bubble up, put them down on the page too.

If you find yourself overthinking, put on some shamanic drum music and just let your mind empty of thought as you move the paints across the page.

When the piece feels complete, sit with it for a moment. Notice the colors, patterns, images on the page. What emotions or ideas does it evoke? Does anything in the piece reflect something that is currently stirring in your life?

Write a few lines in your sketchbook/journal about what you notice, and any thoughts or ideas that came up about what you want to tend to in your life. Turn it into something actionable for this moon cycle.

Place your hand over your heart and read your intention quietly to yourself.

When you’re ready, pour the water from the bowl along with the piece of paper down the flush as a symbolic act of releasing and letting go of your worries.
