November 2020: Tarot spread for the new moon in Scorpio

Tarot spread for the November 2020 new moon in Scorpio

The November 2020 new blue moon falls in the sign of Scorpio. The Scorpio archetype is known for its intense power and its ability to transform, much like the butterfly emerging from its cocoon, ready to fly. The Scorpio archetype isn’t afraid of the birth-death-rebirth cycle, for it is only when parts of us die and are reborn that we can fully transform.

So perhaps it’s not surprising that spiritually, the Scorpio archetype teaches us to surrender – to align our human will with divine will. It can teach us that sometimes our human trials can reveal a need for deep healing. This is not always easy to live with or to understand, especially when the need for healing arises from trauma, and yet on the other side of working with and healing trauma there can be deep and valuable transformation.

This new moon also highlights our standing in the world, and with it, our personal power. This has been a year of great shifts, which makes it important to integrate all of the changes and upheaval that 2020 has brought.

This new moon also lights up our role in society and the ways in which we contribute to the world. Some of us contribute in big and beautiful ways – through social activism, teaching, sharing of wisdom and knowledge – others in gentle, smaller ways – among our families and communities. Both ways of being in the world are valid.

This new moon asks us to re-evaluate and re-examine how we would like to show up and share our gifts with the world in a way that is in alignment with who we are.

Astro-tarot influences for the November 2020 new moon

To throw some more light on the November new moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation. The Scorpio new moon falls in Decan 3, which is ruled by Seven of Cups. This is to be seen in conjunction with Death, which is associated with Scorpio.

The Seven of Cups represents choices, and the difficulties we can often face when it comes to making a decision. It also represents the need to take stock of our life and to analyse the decisions and choices that have led us to where we currently are. Death represents the cycle of change. Change, after all, is the only constant. It’s also the one thing most of us fear most. But Death isn’t concerned about our fears. It simply is. Change and the inevitable cycle of time – we can either embrace it and make these changes work for us, or resist and be dragged through the change, kicking and screaming. The choice is ours.

This, then, speaks to the need for us to choose to initiate a cycle of change. Which means that we need to spend some time reflecting on our choices, and the consequences – both good and bad – of those choices.

Every action that we take as we go through our lives is based on a choice, whether or not we are fully conscious of it. Some choices seem ingrained, because we’ve made them over and over again. But if we don’t like the result of that choice, we can, in any moment, decide to change it. And that is the key – deciding to make the change.

The Daily Pause Oracle Deck

I designed this beautiful, 40-card oracle deck to bring in some stillness, to give us a word or an idea to reflect on as we go about our day.

Supported by the four elements – earth, air, fire, water – and a carefully thought-out structure that connects the cards, The Daily Pause oracle will help you to listen to and trust your own inner knowing.

There’s no learning curve involved with using this deck. Just get quiet, shuffle the cards, pull one out, and reflect on the word you’re presented with.

The decision may not always be an easy one to make. We may have to constantly remind ourselves of our decision to change, because we default back to old ways of being. But unless we actively take stock of where we are and determine where we want to be – and then make the choices that will get us from here to there, nothing in our lives will change.

This Scorpio new moon is going to stir up our supressed emotions, and bring them up to the surface for healing and release. It will give us the opportunity to re-evaluate key areas of our life, and determine the ways in which we want to show up in the world.

With all the noise and drama and collective trauma that is constantly being stirred up in the world, this Scorpio new moon also gives us the ability to decide where we will focus from here on out. We can continue to be swept up by the drama we see playing out around us, or choose to disengage from the drama and focus on the ways in which we can be the change we want to see in the world.

There’s a key difference here. Being swept up by the drama makes us anxious and keeps us feeling powerless. Disengaging from the drama can help us be more keenly aware of what is happening in the world around us and take mindful action, giving us our power back.

Now that’s a choice, and a change, worth making!

Sabian Symbol for the November 2020 new moon in Scorpio

The Sabian Symbol for Scorpio 23 degrees is Crowds Coming Down The Mountain To Listen To One Inspired Person.

This symbol brings to mind a couple of things. One, inspiration can be found anywhere – in song lyrics, between the covers of a book, in something your read on the internet, or perhaps something that a child or a friend or a neighbour says in passing. Inspiration can also be internal, like when you have a sudden a-ha moment and something just clicks within you.

The phrase “coming down the mountain” makes me think of grounding. We can’t be floating in spiritual experiences all the time; we need to ground them into reality, into this material world in which we live. We also need to be practical. When we hear a message that inspires us, that feels transformational, we need to take practical steps to integrate that message in a way that works for us, instead of just listening to it, being inspired for a little while, and then just going back to doing the same things that we were doing before.
