Plus an astro-tarot forecast and an exploration of the Sabian symbol for the full moon in Capricorn.

The July 2024 full moon falls in the sign of Capricorn; this is the second full moon in Capricorn this year. The first was towards the end of June, and took place in the first decan of the Capricorn zodiac. Now, the second Capricorn full moon this year arrives at the end of the zodiac, bringing us to the endpoint of our story.
Symbolized by the mountain goat, which maintains perfect balance while it climbs over precarious rock ledges, the Capricorn archetype is one of disciplined and dogged determination towards the attainment of our worldly desires.
Spiritually, the Capricorn archetype teaches us about integrity and helps us to harness the ability to plan our work, and stick to it, no matter what. In these times of 24×7 consumption culture, it’s easy to be addicted with shiny object syndrome and forget about our goals and plans. Capricorn teaches us about the meaning of integrity: to align ourselves with our highest ideals and actualize our potential.
This full moon also highlights our sense of self-worth and self-esteem, which are intrinsically tied to our finances, our emotions, and the things we value. This Capricorn moon encourages us to reflect on our tangible and intangible possessions (our feelings and emotions, as well as our inner selves, needs and wants) and our values — specifically on the ways in which our material possessions are either harming or supporting us.
Ideally, our possessions should bring us a sense of well-being rather than a feeling of being surrounded by things that just don’t really feel like us. This leads us to question what we value (both tangibly and intangibly) and why, and to examine what we own, what we want to own, and why. Being mindful around purchase decisions around this lunation would be wise.
Astro-tarot influences for the July 2024 full moon
To throw some more light on the July full moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation. The Capricorn full moon falls in decan 3, which is represented by the 4 of Pentacles. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Devil, which is associated with Capricorn.
Since this is the second full moon in Capricorn this year, there is a sense of closure associated with it. If you think back to the end of June, was there anything that was weighing on your mind or heart? What themes did that Capricorn full moon bring up for you? Whatever was active around that time is likely to make itself known once again. Things could come to a head, closing that particular lesson or story that you had been working on.
Under the second Capricorn full moon, our relationship with material resources will be highlighted. We are likely to become acutely aware of the ways that we hold on to our possessions and the places where we feel lacking, even if we are actually well resourced.
In this world that seems to highlight consumption and acquisition over contentment, it’s easy to feel like we never have enough. There are always new, shiny things vying for our attention. It’s easier than ever to buy things from almost any part of the world. And the internet is constantly tracking our interests and preferences and showing us new and interesting things and experiences that we may like.
When Amazon entered India, their tag line was “aur dikhao” — show me more. For years, L’Oreal’s tag line has been “You’re worth it.” We are spoilt for choice, whether we are buying breakfast cereal, clothes, or a new car. And since years, we’ve been implicitly and explicitly sold the message that we deserve to buy more, better, upgrade, splurge.
The fact is, we live in a world of plenty. Our ancestors did not have anywhere near the choices and resources that we have today. And if we leave aside the aristocracy, never before in our human history have we owned as much as we do today.
And still, it seems like we are never satisfied. There is always more to aim for — material goods, exciting new experiences, relatively easier access to exclusive benefits.
Around me I see younger working professionals taking on ever increasing amounts of debt in pursuit of the “good life” — shopping, travel, luxury purchases, flashy cars and lifestyles. It’s like we have been collectively seduced by the “oooh, shiny”, constantly chasing a new high, a flashier lifestyle, and we never seem to have enough.
In this world, what is your individual relationship with your material resources? With your financial planning? Are you able to maintain a balance between consumption and contentment? Do you constantly deny yourself, hoping for something better around the corner? Do you over-indulge your every whim? Do you feel like you’re lacking in terms of the resources you have available to you? Are you ignoring the resources that you do have available to you?
These questions aren’t meant to be a tool for self-flagellation. They’re an invitation to look deeply at your own life. To enjoy what you have and to be mindful of what you purchase. To recognize where you are richly resourced and where you feel lacking. And while we can blame the soaring inflation/capitalism/state of the economy for all our financial woes, there are things that we can do to make things feel a bit more easeful.
This inner reflection, or composting, is especially highlighted with the Moon making a conjunction with Pluto, the planet that’s associated with the underworld, with initiation and rebirth. This is a powerful time to dig deep and be willing to transform. Uranus, Neptune and Mars are also in beneficial positions with the Moon. Though there could be some chaos and confusion around this lunation, things are likely to become clearer as you go through and process any insights, emotions, and longings that make themselves apparent around this time. Setting aside some time to journal, meditate, or simply ground your energy would be beneficial.

There’s a sense of cloaks and daggers with this symbol, of feeling like you’re out of direct control of the decisions that are being made by the ‘directors’ of this large firm. This can translate to how you process inner issues and thoughts. Things may feel like they are out of your control or being influenced by unknown forces. Try to be as aware as you can about what’s happening around you, and also remain open to the mystery.
This symbol can also indicate a feeling of being on the outside, not part of an inner circle. As Lynda Hill writes in 360 Degrees of Wisdom: The Sabian Oracle, “There’s a need to be cautious about what you presume, or imagine, to be really going on. Are you involved in a process without really knowing the bigger picture? Information may be deliberately withheld as a way of maintaining power by secrecy. Call on the appropriate knowledgeable friends or authorities, with them you may be able to iron out the details.”
It can also symbolize a need to exchange views and ideas; to make decisions or lay out plans and strategies; or perhaps to seek counsel or help from your circle of friends.
Tarot spread for the July 2024 Capricorn full moon
Here’s a tarot spread to tap into the energy of this full moon.

1 My money story: This card reflects a deeply held unconscious belief you have about money
2 My money mindset: Your attitude towards money; the more conscious money story you tell yourself
3 Re-framing the narrative: Draw 3 cards. Use these to create a more positive narrative around your relationship with money. If you draw a ‘negative’ card, see how/if it can actually be a more supportive message, i.e. it could indicate an attitude you should not adopt. Use your intuition and the imagery on the cards to weave your story.
4 Mamma moon says: This is always an encouraging message
