Plus an astro-tarot forecast, resources, and an exploration of the Sabian symbol for the new moon in Scorpio.
The November 2024 new moon falls in the sign of Scorpio. The Scorpio archetype is known for its intense power and its ability to transform, much like the butterfly emerging from its cocoon, ready to fly. The Scorpio archetype isn’t afraid of the birth-death-rebirth cycle, for it is only when parts of us die and are reborn that we can fully transform.
So perhaps it’s not surprising that spiritually, the Scorpio archetype teaches us to surrender – to align our human will with divine will. It can teach us that sometimes our human trials can reveal a need for deep healing. This is not always easy to live with or to understand, especially when the need for healing arises from trauma, and yet on the other side of working with and healing trauma there can be deep and valuable transformation.
This new moon also highlights our work life. If you’re currently working, especially in a job or providing a service of some kind, take a moment to reflect on how you are feeling with regards to your work. Are you overworked? Bored and de-motivated? Thriving and striving? Pay particular attention to any feelings associated with your work life and career goals during this Scorpio new moon.
This Scorpio new moon is also a good time to focus on taking better care of your health — fitness, eating well, scheduling any overdue health checks, are all encouraged during this lunation.
Astro-tarot influences for the November 2024 new moon in Scorpio
To throw some more light on the November new moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation. The Scorpio new moon falls in decan 1, which is represented by the Five of Cups. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with Death, which is associated with Scorpio.

The Daily Pause Oracle
A beautifully designed 40-card oracle deck to bring in some stillness, give you a word or an idea to reflect on as you go about your day. Supported by the four elements – earth, air, fire, water – and a carefully thought-out structure that connects the cards, The Daily Pause oracle will help you to listen to and trust your own inner knowing. There’s no learning curve involved with using this deck. Just get quiet, shuffle the cards, pull one out, and reflect on the word you’re presented with.
There’s something very literal about these cards and the way they reflect these times we are living in. There’s collective grief and death — the ethnic cleansing in North Gaza and the ongoing genocide in Palestine, which is the most widely documented genocide that we are seeing unfolding on our screens. Then there is the devastation caused by natural disasters and accidents and building collapses.
The world, it seems, is in its death throes. The old systems and institutions don’t seem to be working any more. What we need is a meaningful change — a way to unfetter the shackles around the UN’s peacekeeping forces, for example. Ways to ensure that skin color, country of birth, and religion aren’t the determinants of whose lives matter and whose don’t. Ways to distribute wealth more evenly; to offer support and rehabilitation to the communities and people that are impacted by wars and hurricanes and other catastrophes. We need access to shelter, to healthcare, to food for all.
While the devastation plays out on the global stage, there are the small deaths and griefs that play out in our individual lives. The promotion we didn’t get, the strained friendship, the disagreements and arguments with family members, the money woes, the self-recrimination and the grief over the things not done and the paths not taken…
All of these are also very present, very potent. These times are shadowy times — the collective and personal griefs demanding to be felt, to be moved through our bodies, to be witnessed and acknowledged. And to then take the rage that often follows grief and injustice, and channelize it into action — for the collective and for the self.
With Mars, the traditional ruler of Scorpio {and Aries} forming an opposition to Pluto, the modern ruler of Scorpio, we have some intense energy swirling around, what with Pluto’s transformative power pitted against the fiery, action-oriented energy of Mars. Our deepest, most primal drives are likely to be amplified at this time and transformations are all but guaranteed.
These intense energies are likely to be somewhat tempered as the Moon forms a trine with Saturn. Make sure to ground, and to ensure that you have strong foundations and structures in place before you rush in to make any changes.

There’s a sense of nostalgia associated with this symbol, as well as indications of old friendships, shared memories, and intellectually stimulating conversations.
With all the intense energy floating around this new moon, this may seem like a strange symbol to work with. However, often times, connecting with close friends and discussing our problems or worries can not only help us lighten our burden, but can also lead to interesting perspective shifts.
Another aspect of this symbol asks us to notice if we’ve been cutting ourselves off socially, to examine why, and to make a concerted effort to go out and about in the world more often. There can be times when we like loners, with no one to share the good things in life. Being out in nature at such times can often feel soothing, as can heading to a cafe with a journal and book, perhaps, and being in the midst of people peopling. While you may or may not strike up a conversation with other patrons, being in the midst of people can sometimes help to alleviate feelings of isolation.
