The September 2025 lunar eclipse falls in the sign of Pisces. The Pisces archetype is highly intuitive and very open to the flow of creative imagination. This is the sign of creative dreamers, mystics and visionaries, which makes this full moon an excellent time to flex your intuitive and creative muscles.
Spiritually, the Pisces archetype teaches the principle of unity, of recognizing the divinity within you. One way to understand this principle is by looking at creation. The creator {God, Universe, Source, however you wish to name it} created this earth, the rivers and seas, the trees, birds, insects, animals, man. Similarly, man has the ability to create, and to create consciously. It is this ability that points to the spiritual truth of Pisces, that we are spiritual beings having a human experience {with the emphasis on our humanness in all its frailty and beauty}. It is by accepting responsibility for consciously creating, which isn’t always easy, that you connect most deeply with the creator. Needless to say, empathy and compassion are the cornerstones of the Pisces archetype.
This full moon kicks off eclipse season, with the longest total lunar eclipse since 2022. The eclipse will be visible in most parts of the world, including Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean and Antarctica.
Lunar eclipses typically bring endings and closure, helping us to release things that no longer serve us. Expect sudden changes in consciousness, intuitive insights, and pattern-breaking a-has around this time. The seeds that you planted six months ago, at the solar eclipse, will also start to blossom around this lunar eclipse.
Astrology and tarot influences for the September 2025 full moon lunar eclipse
To throw some more light on the energy surrounding this Pisces full moon lunar eclipse, let’s take a look at the astrology and tarot influences of this lunation. The Pisces lunar eclipse falls in decan 3, which is represented by the Ten of Cups. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Moon, which is associated with Pisces.

The Daily Pause Oracle Deck
I designed this beautiful, 40-card oracle deck to bring in some stillness, to give us a word or an idea to reflect on as we go about our day.
Supported by the four elements – earth, air, fire, water – and a carefully thought-out structure that connects the cards, The Daily Pause oracle will help you to listen to and trust your own inner knowing.
There’s no learning curve involved with using this deck. Just get quiet, shuffle the cards, pull one out, and reflect on the word you’re presented with.
The 10’s in tarot represent endings — the culmination of one cycle and the start of another — very appropriate for this Blood Moon lunar eclipse. Blood Moons tend to bring endings…to clear a path so that we can align with our deeper truth. Falling in the sign of Pisces, this is likely to be a rather emotional, perhaps even spiritual, eclipse season.
We could experience a crisis of faith or a sudden or even painful awakening. We could also experience an ending of some kind — a long-term project may be drawing to completion, a relationship may end, or a period of suffering may be drawing to a close.
This ending could be significant for some, while others may not really notice what has ended, or it may be a somewhat smoother transition. Pay attention to the signs and patterns around you. Notice any emotional currents around this time — they’re likely to be heightened for all of us, so do try to ground and center yourself in some way. If you have a grounding crystal like tourmaline or smoky quartz, keep it close at hand.
From an astrological lens, the moon forms a conjunction with Saturn and Neptune, blending structure with vision, discipline with intuition and imagination, offering us an opportunity to not just dream, but to root those dreams into reality. Pay attention to your intuition and to your dreams around this lunation, and then take simple, concrete steps to bring those visions into reality.
The wounded healer Chiron is also active during this lunar eclipse in Pisces, and can trigger old wounds and shadowy material. Try to be gentle with yourself around this full moon. Practices like grounding, meditation, reflective journaling, sound baths, or listening to healing music can help soothe the intensity of the energies swirling around at this time.
These practices will prove particularly supportive, as the moon forms a beneficial trine with Jupiter, which lends its expansive, abundant energy to this lunation. There is support available here, as we navigate the endings and beginnings, the twists and turns, the shadowy material and the wounds.
This eclipse reminds us that endings, no matter how tender they are, always lead to new beginnings. Under Pisces’ watery light, we’re invited to release with compassion, trust the cycles of closure and renewal, and know that we are being led into a more aligned future.
Womanrunes for the September 2025 full moon lunar eclipse in Pisces
Every full moon, I will draw a Womanrune for us, as a theme, a learning, a focus point for the days until the next full moon rolls around. This month, I drew Rune 21: The Egg. Rune of Naming.
Naming. Communication. Words of power. Speaking your truth. Telling your story. Who are you? What do you know? What gifts do you have to offer to your family? Your community?
The Egg is also a rune of new beginnings — feels particularly appropriate for this lunar eclipse. What seeds are you sowing? What is gestating? What is emerging? What small, new thing are you gently guarding?
This is a rune that speaks, too, of gentleness. Of kindness and nurturing. Especially needed around this Pisces full moon lunar eclipse. Be kind to yourself. Be mindful of your inner monologue. If you wouldn’t say something to your best friend, why do you say it to yourself? Cultivate a kinder inner voice. It may take conscious work at first, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
The Womanrunes were created by Shekhinah Mountainwater in 1987. There were originally no written interpretations available for these runes, other than the name and one word meanings, which offer tremendous scope for personal interpretation. The remastered original hand drawn Womanrunes can be purchased here. Molly Remer subsequently wrote Womanrunes: A Guide to Their Use and Interpretation, based on her own meditations and interpretations of the runes. Her book is available on Amazon and Etsy.
