Plus an astrology and tarot forecast, new moon ritual, and herbal lore for the Scorpio new moon.

Tarot spread; astrology and tarot forecast; and ritual for the November 2025 new moon in Scorpio

The November 2025 new moon falls in the sign of Scorpio. The Scorpio archetype is known for its intense power and its ability to transform, much like the butterfly emerging from its cocoon, ready to fly. The Scorpio archetype isn’t afraid of the birth-death-rebirth cycle, for it is only when parts of us die and are reborn that we can fully transform.

So perhaps it’s not surprising that spiritually, the Scorpio archetype teaches us to surrender — to align our human will with divine will. It can teach us that sometimes our human trials can reveal a need for deep healing. This is not always easy to live with or to understand, especially when the need for healing arises from trauma, and yet on the other side of working with and healing trauma there can be deep and valuable transformation.

The November 2025 new moon also highlights our search for meaning and our desire to define or refine our life purpose. Which can sound very lofty – so instead of thinking about your “life purpose”, use this new moon to reflect on the things that you want to focus on in the coming months or year. And when you think of those things, try not to make it a beating-yourself-up goals list — make space for joy and beauty and delight.

Because life purpose? It usually is where you find the most joy…the thing that lights you up from within…where you lose track of time. Make sure that you’re making some space for that!

You can deepen your reflections with my Soul Lines workbook, which offers guided prompts and spreads to help you understand the recurring themes that shape your path.

Astrology and tarot influences for the November 2025 new moon

To throw some more light on the astrology of this Scorpio new moon, let’s take a look at the astrological and tarot influences of this lunation. The Scorpio new moon falls in Decan 3, which is ruled by Seven of Cups. This is to be seen in conjunction with Death, which is associated with Scorpio. Combined, these cards point to a season of change and transformation.

The Daily Pause Oracle Deck

I designed this beautiful, 40-card oracle deck to bring in some stillness, to give us a word or an idea to reflect on as we go about our day.

Supported by the four elements – earth, air, fire, water – and a carefully thought-out structure that connects the cards, The Daily Pause oracle will help you to listen to and trust your own inner knowing.

There’s no learning curve involved with using this deck. Just get quiet, shuffle the cards, pull one out, and reflect on the word you’re presented with.

As we approach the end of the year, many of us start to take stock of how far we’ve traveled, and dream into our vision for the year ahead. The array of options in front of us can be enticing, scattered with seeds of potential, hundreds of ideas, and a handful of dreams.

As we play in the realm of possibilities, our ideas grow like gardens and in the flush of excitement, we think that a year is a long time so maybe we can do it all?

We tend to forget our own limitations and responsibilities, ignore the evidence of all the curveballs that life has thrown at us…and will throw at us, and confidently — and delusionally — set out to do it all. I mean, what’s life without a little delulu, AmIRight?

But Death is here as a sobering reminder that we cannot have it all. That new beginnings come from first going through painful endings, which means that the only way we can actually give birth to our most potent ideas is by choosing a few that will see the light.

We have to metaphorically kill some of our darlings, so that the others can see the light of day. Otherwise all we will end up with is shiny illusions, dreamy plans, and nothing much to show for it.

With Neptune forming a beneficial trine with the moon, both our intuition and imagination will be heightened at this time. This is both a beautifully dreamy, visionary time, and a time when we can be easily caught up in our fears and illusions. Grounding, meditation, immersing yourself in what feeds you will help you to navigate Neptune’s currents more effectively.

Saturn is also active during this Scorpio new moon, providing some grounding and stability as a counter-point to Neptune’s more visionary, imaginal state. With these two planets working in tandem, this is an excellent time to not just dream into the new year, but try and anchor some of your dreams into reality. Consider what small actions can make your plans a bit more tangible? You may choose to pencil in some projects into your 2026 planner, or scatter some reminders and notes of encouragement to yourself across its pages.

We could see also some erratic energy during this lunation, as the planet of change, Uranus forms an opposition with the moon. If there is something you’ve been avoiding or if you have been playing small somehow, Uranus could shake things up and force you to take action. While being forced into action is rarely comfortable, it could bring stability and a possible awakening on the other side.

Herbal medicine for the Scorpio new moon

Every new moon, I will choose a herb for us based on the astrology around the moon, using the Herbal Astrology Oracle by Adriana Ayales. I’ll include a bit about the herbal lore and some guidance that you can weave in to your new moon workings.

herbal medicine and new moon ritual for the November 2025 new moon in Scorpio

The herb that I chose for the November 2025 new moon in Scorpio is Mitragynia. Ruled by Saturn and Neptune, this rainforest tree has been valued by indigenous people in South East Asia to relieve stress, fatigue, pain and fever, and to treat wounds. The plant was revered among monks in Asia, who chewed its leaves during long periods of meditation, to assist with focused attention and positive energy.

Mitragynia represents our ability to adapt to situations and realities, granting us the power to break through the illusionary facade we often accept as reality, and thereby to overcome limiting and outdated beliefs. It can help us initiate subconscious healing from the numerous cycles of pain and suffering we have all experienced during our lives. Mitragynia invites us to seek out the parts of our habits, or our selves, that have gone unchanged, unnoticed, and stagnant, and to tend to the changes we’ve been wanting to make.

Note: I am not a herbal practitioner, and the herbs that I choose for us on each new moon are not meant to be ingested. If you own a copy of the Herbal Astrology Oracle, you can place the card on your altar. Alternately, you can find a photograph of the herb and paint or sketch it in your journal while you reflect on its healing properties and how they may resonate with you.

Ritual for the new moon in Scorpio

For this new moon, I offer you a a mindful, nourishing ritual to compost the year — to release what’s ready to be laid to rest, and make space for new seeds to take root in the new year.

You will need:

A piece of paper

Journal and pen

A beverage of your choice

A timer {the one on your phone is perfect}

Matchbox or lighter

Candle/incense/crystals — anything to make your feel space inviting {optional}

The ritual:

Create a calm space. Dim the lights or light a candle or lamp. Light your incense. Place some crystals in front of you. Anything that makes your space feel more inviting.

Gather your journal, a pen, a piece of paper, and a drink of your choice.

Take a few slow, deep breaths and simply arrive in the space. Let your mind quieten down…feel your body settle.

Reflect on the year’s “compost”. On a piece of paper, write down what feels complete or heavy — projects, habits, expectations, identities.

Ask yourself:

  • What am I ready to stop carrying?
  • What feels done, even if it hasn’t been “finished”?

As you write, imagine these experiences breaking down into rich compost, transformed into wisdom and nourishment.

Pause. Sip your beverage. Calm your mind if you’re feeling at all agitated.

Now, turn your attention to what’s calling you next. The identity you want to inhabit. The habits you want to build. The projects you want to focus on.

Set a timer for 15 minutes and heartstorm in your journal.

When you’re done, look over your writing and pick 2-3 things that feel the most alive and urgent.

These are your seeds. Write them down on a piece of paper and stick it into your 2026 planner or journal, so it stays front and center in your mind.

Now, we release. Close your eyes and place one hand over your heart and the other on your belly.

Take a deep breath in through your nose, feeling your chest and belly expand.

As you exhale slowly, imagine releasing everything that’s ready to fall away — the self-doubt, the noise, the clutter.

Repeat this for a few rounds, really feeling into that energy of releasing what’s ready to fall away.

When you feel “done”, burn the piece of paper on which you wrote down the year’s “compost” as a symbolic gesture of releasing it. Safely, please! You can burn it over the kitchen sink or the toilet bowl. Alternatively, you could tear the paper and flush it down the toilet.

End your ritual by reading your “seeds” aloud {the ones you wrote on a piece of paper and tucked into your 2026 planner).

Close your journal, blow out your candle. Rest in stillness for a few moments, sipping your drink, before returning to your day.
