Plus some journaling questions, an astro-tarot forecast and an exploration of the Sabian symbol for the full moon in Virgo.

The February 2024 full moon falls in the sign of Virgo. The Virgo archetype is logical and practical, with an eye for detail and the steadfastness to go after their goals. This is a sign that thrives on meticulous planning, on honing skills to perfection and gaining mastery over their chosen vocation.
Spiritually, the Virgo archetype teaches the principle of devotion. One way to understand this principle is by looking at it through the lens of one’s devotion to their craft. While all the buzz seems to point towards profiting from your passion, there are numerous examples of famous writers and artists who held down a day job for most of their lives. Franz Kafka was an insurance clerk, Harper Lee was an airline ticketing agent, Mark Rothko was an elementary school teacher and Paul Gauguin was a stockbroker. They could all have given in to the dull drudgery of making a living, but they didn’t – and the world is much richer for their devotion to their craft.
This full moon also highlights your journey of self-discovery: who you are, who you’re becoming, how do you realize your best self? It’s an excellent time to shine some light on your unique personality traits, the things about yourself that you want to change, and perhaps more importantly, to consider how you can achieve your goals while working with yourself {your strengths, vision, etc.} rather than against yourself {following “conventional” advice, which may or may not be serving you}.
Astro-tarot influences for the February 2024 full moon
To throw some more light on the February full moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation. The Virgo full moon falls in decan 1, which is represented by the 8 of Pentacles. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Hermit, which is associated with Virgo.

The Daily Pause Oracle Deck
I designed this beautiful, 40-card oracle deck to bring in some stillness, to give us a word or an idea to reflect on as we go about our day.
Supported by the four elements – earth, air, fire, water – and a carefully thought-out structure that connects the cards, The Daily Pause oracle will help you to listen to and trust your own inner knowing.
There’s no learning curve involved with using this deck. Just get quiet, shuffle the cards, pull one out, and reflect on the word you’re presented with.
The 8 of Pentacles always reminds me to focus on what truly matters to me, beyond the dictates {in my case} of the 9 to 5 job. Culturally, we romanticize the notion of jobs that we are passionate about, failing which, we turn our hobbies into side hustles. In the process, we eliminate leisure from our existence, and we turn our hobbies into sources of stress.
We’ve made bigger better and wear our busyness as a badge of honor. YouTube is littered with productivity gurus who tell us how to squeeze the most out of every single minute, and social media plays a rather significant role in pulling our focus away from what matters to us, and to what the world says should matter.
Added to that are all the opinions on how we should show up, what we should care about, the “best” or “only way” to do something, and just like that, your own voice is drowned out. Before you can form an opinion on anything, you’re presented with a counter-argument and a different viewpoint.
And yet, technology has made our daily lives much easier and more efficient. In many ways it has made the world smaller — we can connect with people from around the world through tiny hand held devices connected to the world wide web. We can feed our curiosity at the tap of a button. And we can, at any point, be juggling a number of different goals and projects, along with managing the minutiae of daily life.
We are at a stage of human evolution where we have an overwhelming array of choices open to us and, if we choose wisely, we often do have the time to pursue the projects and goals that matter most to us. But with those seemingly infinite choices and possibilities comes paralysis. Because we may have a million choices, but we have a limited amount of time on this earth, which can sometimes make us too afraid to choose, to commit to a path, to go the distance.
But that is what the 8 of Pentacles asks of us. To choose. To focus. To master. And it begins with learning — or remembering — to say no to the many interesting things you do want to do, in favor of the ones that are the most alive and urgent in you at this time.
This is where The Hermit comes in, with the invitation to step back into yourself, into your own life, to focus on + get clear on what really and truly matters to you, and to go out and do more of that, unapologetically.
With Saturn active during this Virgo full moon, this theme of stepping back into yourself, of setting boundaries, is amplified. Especially important are the boundaries you set around the information you consume, especially during this lunation, as Mercury is very active too. As the messenger planet, Mercury can help us source information, which makes it important to pay attention to the information sources you are choosing to pay attention to. Also be open to any wisdom or insight that arises around this time.
This Virgo full moon is one that can truly support the goals that are burning the brightest in your heart. And clearing out some of that external noise would help you to get clear on what you want to achieve and how you want to live your life.
Sabian Symbol for the February 2024 full moon
The Sabian Symbol for Virgo 5 degrees is A Merry-Go-Round.

Sign up for the Numinous Stardust!
Step into the rhythm of the moon with original tarot spreads, astro-tarot forecasts, rituals and journaling prompts delivered to your inbox each Full Moon and New Moon.
What an apt symbol for this lunation! One one hand, the merry-go-round brings back childhood memories of playgrounds and picnics. But on the other hand, the merry-go-round is also a symbol for going around in circles, never arriving at your destination.
It’s not all bad, though. You may be making some progress, miniscule though it may be. Every time that you seem to go around in circles, chances are you’ve had an opportunity to look around and find some new ideas and possibilities.
This symbol relates to a situation where you feel stuck in repetitive or unprogressive ruts. It serves as a reminder that you will eventually have to make the decision to stop going around in circles and make a change. As Lynda Hill reminds us in 365 Degrees of Wisdom: The Sabian Oracle, “There’s a need to see definite possibilities and evidence of advancement in life, and to feel as though we are making progress towards a goal or a clear outcome.”
Go ahead. Make a decision. Take the leap. Chances are, you have all the information you need!
