The 100 day project days 31-40 plus communing with the divine feminine

It’s time for another update on my 100 day project — 100 Days of Art Journaling.

As the days roll on, it’s becoming easier and easier to show up to the painty table every day — on the busy days, on social days, on days when I have a lot of stuff going on, and on the more languid and lazy days. I show up. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes. I show up. And I am delighted!

Looking over at the art journal pages from days 30 to 40 of my 100 day project, I feel like I’ve been floating in current of divine feminine energy.

3 of the 4 portraits that I painted in these last 10 days have a divine feminine energy to them, with the one of the woman with antlers reminding me of Elen of the Ways, who is considered one of the most ancient female Goddess on mainland Britain, dating back to the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age).

Another of these paintings showed up in ritual space. I always start an intuitive painting on my birthday, as a little painted spell, a talisman, for the year ahead. The woman with the golden halo fell out of my paintbrush that day, and I adore her!

And the third portrait that feels like an expression of divine feminine energy is the one with the words “winking at time”. She feels ancient, oracular. For some reason, when I look at this painting, I imagine her surrounded by crumbling Doric columns…

  1. These are gorgeous, Shinjini! I loved them all!
I too have been enjoying this 100 day artjournalling challenge. Although I haven’t been drawing every single day, I have been definitely drawing more. It feels nice seeing the difference in my work from before and how I am challenging myself to attempt different kinds of illustrations.

    • Thank you, Shilpa! And so glad you’re enjoying the challenge! I think what you’re doing is the most important aspect of the challenge — to challenge yourself to draw/illustrate in different styles and be able to see the difference in how your work has evolved. I’ve loved seeing your artwork pop up on my feed!
