The August 2026 full moon falls in the sign of Pisces. The Pisces archetype is highly intuitive and very open to the flow of creative imagination. This is the sign of creative dreamers and mystics and visionaries, which makes this new moon an excellent time to flex your intuitive and creative muscles.

Spiritually, the Pisces archetype teaches the principle of unity, of recognizing the divinity within you. One way to understand this principle is by looking at creation – the creator {God, Universe, Source, however you wish to name it} created this earth, the rivers and seas, the trees, birds, insects, animals, man. Similarly, man has the ability to create – and to create consciously. It is this ability that points to the spiritual truth of Pisces, that we are spiritual beings having a human experience {with the emphasis on our humanness in all its frailty and beauty}. It is by accepting responsibility for consciously creating – which isn’t always easy – that you connect most deeply with the creator. Needless to say, empathy and compassion are the cornerstones of the Pisces archetype.

We have the second eclipse of this season, with a partial lunar eclipse that will be visible in North and South America, parts of Europe, and Africa. Lunar eclipses typically bring endings and closure, helping us to release things that no longer serve us. Expect sudden changes in consciousness, intuitive insights, and pattern-breaking a-has around this time. The seeds that you planted six months ago, at the solar eclipse, will also start to blossom around this lunar eclipse.

This Pisces moon also asks us to examine our life choices and responsibilities. We could find ourselves pulled between tending to our responsibilities and getting more organized and wanting to focus on our creative pursuits and hobbies. There’s a possibility, too, that both these areas may be intertwined.

The astrology supports this. The Moon is opposite Mercury, which helps us challenge existing explanations but could make it difficult to give voice to our feelings. Uranus shakes things up even further, shocking us out of our habitual responses and introducing the unexpected — a desire to break free from an outdated emotional pattern and to no longer accept the old narrative.

This Pisces lunar eclipse could stir up the gunk from your unconscious, bringing it up to the surface so you can finally release it for good. This can be through a simple write-and-burn ritual, a visualization, or if it is a deeper, more complex issue, through therapy.

Every full moon, I will draw a Womanrune for us, as a theme, a learning, a focus point for the days until the next full moon rolls around. This month, I drew Rune 21: The Egg. The rune of naming.

This is so interesting! I drew The Egg for the lunar eclipse in Pisces back in September 2025. To have it come up again now indicates that something we were grappling with around that time is ready to come to a head.

Think about the person you were last year. In what ways have you changed? What are you ready to let go of, and what new identity are you willing to lean into?

The Egg is the rune of identification…of owning who you are, what you know, and what you have to offer. It’s also a rune of new beginnings, of change and growth, emergence and renewal.

What new possibilities are you willing to see? To nurture? To implement? This eclipse marks a time of shedding and regenerating. What “skin” are you willing to shed? What identity are you willing to grow into?
