When you’ve been painting in a certain style for some time, its easy to feel like you’ve fallen into a rut — reaching for the same colors, patterns, and marks that you know so well. While there is definitely a place for this familiarity with your art, there will be multiple points on your artists’ journey when you will long to infuse your art with a sense of freshness.

One of the best ways to do this through experimentation and play — learn new-to-you styles or techniques; explore a new-to-you color palette; try a completely different art form. The skills you pick up will not just refresh and excite you as an artist, they will start to come through in your work, infusing it with a sense of freshness.

Tune in as I talk about:

  • The new projects that I worked on in April
  • Turning mistakes into opportunities
  • Finding fresh ideas that I’m raring to explore
  • Being open to experimenting
  • and much more!

“Be open to experimenting. To trying new things. Even things you think are not you. Or that you don’t understand. Getting into beginner’s mindset; taking a class or two; watching some YouTube videos; playing outside your creative comfort zone and trying new things can refresh your art practice like nothing else can. And a lot of the new skills you pick up will eventually cross over into the style that fits you like a glove.”
