Spiritually, the Gemini archetype is about courageous conversation, be it with another person or with the Universe. Gemini adds its vibration to the advancement of culture and civilization through dialogue, be that via books or blogs or letters.
The December 2022 full moon also highlights our creativity and creative expression. It brings our personal pleasure and self-satisfaction to the forefront, highlighting all the little moments and things that bring us beauty and joy.
This is a wonderful time to focus in on our creative pursuits and hobbies, as well as on the ways in which we can take better care of ourselves. Make some time to explore what brings you joy and satisfaction, and do more of that! In a world that thrives on drama, doing “nothing” {i.e. the simple things that are meaningful and important to you} can be a radical act of rebellion.

The 9 of Swords bring to mind the twin anxieties that are almost inevitable at this time of the year: the stress around Christmas and end of the year festivities and the anxiety and recrimination over all of the goals that we didn’t achieve and the things that we left undone. While we could argue that the end of the year is just a change of the date, the fact is that psychologically and collectively, it is a significant time marker — another year to weigh up the scales and see where we stand.
Many of us tend to find that we’ve come up short: some of our goals are undone, some fell to the wayside; perhaps we didn’t make enough time for the things that were important to us; perhaps life took an unexpected turn and upended all our best laid plans, and we feel some anxiety around what the coming year may hold.
But that is the thing: life happens, goals and priorities change, things don’t always go according to plan, and even despite our best efforts, some goals simply never materialize. It’s all part of this messy human journey and there’s no point to self-flagellation.
What we could do instead is to focus on love — use that as our map and our compass and our lens. Be gentle, kind, and self-compassionate with your end of the year reviews. Make some space for the things you love, the things you’d do for love, and for who and what you love. It can feel difficult, but sometimes, we can make a little bit of space within the rhythms of our day. And sometimes, using love as our map, compass, and lens, can help us get clear on where and what and whom we want to focus on, which may make it somewhat easier to clear away the things that don’t really matter.
