Spiritually, the Taurus archetype teaches the principle of belonging through presence…our presence as sacred human beings…honoring the body temple…honoring the flow of life. This can be difficult given the society we live in, which praises the hustle over reverence and treats time as money rather than a finite resource that should be used wisely in the pursuit of the things that give us meaning.

The April 2025 new moon also brings into focus the ways in which you communicate and the power of owning your voice. This isn’t always an easy thing – to speak your truth. There’s a lot of anxiety that it can bring up, around how you are perceived; how your words translate; and what people may think of you. It can lead to fears of being “found out” or ostracized – neither of which is a rational fear!

As the days roll on, it’s becoming easier and easier to show up to the painty table every day — on the busy days, on social days, on days when I have a lot of stuff going on, and on the more languid and lazy days. I show up. Even if it’s just for 15 minutes. I show up. And I am delighted!

This is a skill that can be particularly helpful for those of us who turn up our noses at societal expectations as we dance to the tune of our own drum beat. Being able to remain centered is also an important skill to have if you’re surrounded by toxic people – and in these times, even toxic politics! One of the easiest ways to remain centered is through the breath, and by being able to distinguish between the things that are in your control, and those that aren’t.

The 100 day project days 21-30 plus how artists find {or reverse-engineer} inspiration

As I look over the monthly spread on my March planner, I see an unbroken streak of art sessions. This is the first time that I have ever had an unbroken streak spanning a month, and I am positively delighted!

Another little metric? In these 30 days of art journaling, I have 20 finished art journal pages! As a reminder, my aim with this 100 day project was to show up and work in my art journals for 100 days, not to complete a spread a day, though there have been multiple days when I have finished a page a day.

As the first sign of the zodiac, it represents the active core of our spiritual journey on earth, and teaches us to act in accordance with our ideals. The Aries archetype teaches us to be unafraid to march to our own drumbeat, to assert our willpower towards the attainment of our desires, and to embrace beginner’s mind and the innate trust and explosive power {conviction + action} that is needed to start something new.

Spiritually, the Aries archetype teaches us about action. And as most of us know, it’s easier to talk about the things we want to do than to put in the work and actually do the thing! Aries teaches us that courage is the key to unlocking the full potential of this spiritual principle. And that comes from connecting your head to your heart, focusing your will, and taking consistent action towards your dreams.

We have the second eclipse of this season, with a partial solar eclipse that will be visible in Europe, parts of Asia and Africa, North America, parts of South America, Atlantic and the Arctic.

March 2025 reading wrap-up

There are some books that demand your attention. That ask to be read slowly, as you mull over the words, and in that slowing down, connections are made — to thoughts that have been hidden away in the dusty corners of your mind, to ideas gleaned from other books, other sources.

When books like these come along, you no longer care about meeting arbitrary reading goals or worry that you’ve fallen behind in your reading. You just immerse yourself in the words and ideas in front of you, and let everything else fall away.

Time flies when you’re having fun! And boy, am I having fun with my 100 day project — 100 days of art journaling — especially since it’s a low-pressure commitment to show up at the painty table for a minimum of 15 minutes every day. Many days, I end up spending a lot longer, as I fling paint around and make glorious messes…or rather paintings…in my art journal.

For the 100 Day Project 2025, my aim is to show up and work in my art journals for 100 days. I’m less concerned with creating 100 art journal spreads and more concerned with showing up to the painty table for a minimum of 15 minutes every day.

In years past, I’ve given myself the grace to take breaks. This year, I want to see if I can maintain a 100 day streak, though I won’t beat myself up if I do take a break. Life happens, and I am not interested in what I call the “girl-boss” version of creative practice.

100 day project 2025: 100 days of art journaling

In recent months, I’ve felt a bit disconnected from my art practice. The urgency I used to feel to create when I was still working my 9 to 5 job is missing. I have spent time at the painty table, of course, but it’s more sporadic than what it used to be.

One of the reasons for this lack of urgency to paint is, I think, the dramatic reduction in my stress levels. Art was my way of destressing after a crazily insane work day. Another reason is because I’m in a different creative season, with my writing currently in the driver’s seat.
