February 2019: Tarot spread for the full moon in Virgo

February 2019 full moon in Virgo astrology and tarot spread

The February 2019 full moon falls in the sign of Virgo. The Virgo archetype is logical and practical. This is a sign that thrives on meticulous planning, on honing skills to perfection and gaining mastery over their chosen vocation. This makes the February full moon a good time to celebrate the areas where you are putting in concentrated effort, and to let go of any negative programming that tries to sell you short from living your dream.

The February full moon may illuminate the areas where you tend to hold yourself back from achieving your full potential. It could also bring up the ways in which you sabotage your own best intentions. Tap into the energy of the Virgo archetype to examine these and work to overcome them, and you could well pave the way to your success!

Astro-Tarot influences for the February full moon

To throw some more light on the February full moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation.

The Virgo full moon falls in decan 1, which is represented by the 8 of Pentacles. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Hermit, which is associated with Virgo.

This, then, speaks of highly focused, single-minded dedication to your chosen vocation or goal. The highly focused dedication of the figure on the 8 of Pentacles, combined with the inward and solitary energy of The Hermit can speak to a time of pulling away from all external distractions to give our complete attention and devotion to the goal that is burning brightest in our heart. This energy isn’t one to be squandered on trivial “vanity” goals; you want to use this for your heart’s work, because this energy has a powerful charge to it. It’s the energy of flow – of forgetting everything else as you lose yourself in the work that you are creating.

And to be able to do that, you need your structures and support systems in place. You need to break free of your inner gremlins and give yourself the free mind space in which to create the work of your heart.

Working with the moon

The full moon is a time of completion. The intentions that you set at the new moon are ready to be birthed into the world. The full moon illuminates the fruits of the work you’ve done towards achieving your new moon intention and to make any tweaks as necessary. This is a good time to release any negative emotions, habits, thoughts, beliefs and to look within and shift any blocks and old patterns that don’t serve you any more.

I tap into the energy of the full moon to call in and celebrate the sign’s qualities in myself; to release any related limiting beliefs; and to express gratitude for whatever is coming up.

  1. I’m feeling all sorts of obstacles to my goals but I am definitely willing to try to reframe my situation so I can get past these obstacles. Thank you for reminding me of the necessity of reframing.

  2. That’s something I often do when I hit a stumbling block–I work on the negative tape that plays in my mind. it isn’t easy changing the tape, but positivity, or reframing that tape, is paramount if we wish to keep going forward.
Thank you for the Tarot spread, Shinjini!

  3. I liked your point that full moon is like a circle coming to the end of its loop and so à good time to purge negativity from thoughts and life.

I am thinking of fasting from next full moon, it’s supposed to help the body as well that’s what I have heard.

  4. So cool that you’re going to be part of running this course!
I am writing these lines of yours down in my bujo just now: You need to break free of your inner gremlins and give yourself the free mind space in which to create the work of your heart.
    Thank you! ♥

  5. Thank you for this lovely post, Shinjini! There’s something lovely about your posts and the way you make us think about things in our lives and the changes that we could make to let art become an inseparable part of our lives. I’d love to think deeply about the things you mentioned and do something about them. Plenty of introspection happening this week so this post comes at a good time.
