March 2019: Tarot spread for the new moon in Pisces

Astrology for the new moon in Pisces February 2019

The March 2019 new moon falls in the sign of Pisces. The Pisces archetype is highly intuitive and very open to the flow of the creative imagination. This is the sign of dreamers and mystics and visionaries, which makes this new moon an excellent time to flex your creative and intuitive muscles.

The March new moon also highlights our creativity and pleasure. It encourages us to step out of logical thinking and enter into a state of playful enquiry. This is the time to adopt creative thinking, to lean into our feelings rather than be ruled purely by our rational mind, and to express ourselves creatively.

Astro-Tarot influences for the March new moon

To throw some more light on the March new moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation.

The Pisces new moon falls in decan 2, which is represented by the 9 of Cups. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Moon, which is associated with Pisces.

The 9 of Cups is often referred to as the “wishes fulfilled” card. It represents the fulfillment of all the hard work that you’ve put in on your projects. The Moon is usually seen as a card of illusion and fear, but it is SO MUCH more than that! The Moon is also mystery and magic; it’s the cycle of birth and death and re-birth; it’s a visual reminder of cyclical time…and I could go on and on!

This, then, speaks to the flow of doing and being; of the cycle of seeing a project through to completion, resting for a while, and then embarking on the next thing.

It can also indicate a turning point…the start of something new – be it a new way of being, a fresh perspective, or a new path or project that makes your heart beat just a little bit faster.

The Pisces new moon can also ask you to look at a problem from a different angle, to gain a fresh perspective on something that has been holding you back.

Journaling questions for the Pisces new moon

Not a cardslinger? No problem! Here are some questions to reflect on instead:

1. What area of my life currently feels blocked? What can I do to shift this energy?

2. How can I better harness my creativity?

3. Is there a recurring dream that I keep pushing aside? {This doesn’t refer to a dream that you see when you’re asleep}

4. Put on your timer for 15 minutes and  free write. Write down the first thing that comes into your head, even if you write this is a stupid prompt over and over again. You will eventually get into the flow of writing. See what comes up. This is an excellent way of tapping into your intuition and you own inner wisdom.

Working with the moon

The new moon is when we set intentions for the moon cycle. It’s a way to focus on a particular goal or desire from one new moon to the next. I have found this to be a very effective way to get things done and to achieve my desires. Of course, there have been cycles when I have slacked, but working with cyclical time gives me a gentler perspective when it comes to achieving my desires.

This blog post details my new moon ritual and how I work with the new moon cycle:

  1. My take away from this post is the 4 questions to be addressed in journalling. I have come across the importance of free writing for a fixed time several times but I have not done it. Today is the day when I should begin doing it.

    • Do let me know how it works for you! Pull Pen Paint is an amazing course! I was a student on it the first two years, and was invited to teach this year – which makes me both nervous and excited!

  2. Ah I need to take out time to ponder about these 4 questions. Sounds so sensible when you see it on print and yet I’ve never thought about it so far.

    • Yeah, we don’t always take time to think about what isn’t right in front of us. It’s one of the reasons why I love cycling with the moon. Forced introspection at very regular intervals! 🙂

  3. Put on your timer for 15 minutes and free write. Write down the first thing that comes into your head, even if you write this is a stupid prompt over and over again. You will eventually get into the flow of writing. See what comes up. This is an excellent way of tapping into your intuition and you own inner wisdom.

This is practically most of my drafting process!

  4. I will use the journaling questions, Shinjini. I am aware of the dream that gets pushed away because I am too scared to take that first step. Maybe writing would clear up my doubts to some level. Love reading your posts, Shinjini. <3
