February 2019: Tarot spread for the new moon in Aquarius

Astrology for the new moon in Aquarius February 2019

The February 2019 new moon falls in the sign of Aquarius. The Aquarius archetype is radically individual, very strong-willed, and can be rather eccentric. This is a sign that is not afraid to walk to its own drum beat, which makes this new moon a good time to get clear on your own unique perspective on life.

After the powerful solar and lunar eclipses last month, February’s new moon presents us with a fresh slate from which to launch into the year. This lunation asks us to start at the beginning: with clarity on where we want to head and armed with a fresh mindset. This would be a good time to examine old thought processes and the limiting beliefs that hold us back.

Our relationships, especially with the people closest to us, are also highlighted with the February new moon. If there are any co-dependant tendencies, these could come to a head during this moon phase. It’s a good time, too, to establish strong boundaries and create systems that would support you in achieving your personal goals, while also balancing demands from your family and the work front. {This ties in perfectly with the themes that came up in the tarot reading for February as well.}

Astro-Tarot influences for the February new moon

To throw some more light on the February new moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation.

The Aquarius new moon falls in decan 2, which is represented by the 6 of Swords. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Star, which is associated with Aquarius.

This, then, speaks of hope after tumultuous times. Of moving away from a potentially traumatic or stressful situation to find a safe harbor. The figure steering the boat on the 6 of Swords can be seen as a guide or guardian, someone who is always near us to offer comfort during a time of distress.

This is also representative of turning our back on old thought processes and ways of thinking and being that are holding us back. There’s a certain willingness to surrender to the process – to look ahead with hope and calmness as we move forward towards a better tomorrow.

Working with the moon

The new moon is when we set intentions for the moon cycle. It’s a way to focus on a particular goal or desire from one new moon to the next. I have found this to be a very effective way to get things done and to achieve my desires. Of course, there have been cycles when I have slacked, but working with cyclical time gives me a gentler perspective when it comes to achieving my desires.

This blog post details my new moon ritual and how I work with the new moon cycle:

  1. I had started journalling in January but as usual got derailed with my own life duties taking over. Then when I got the urge to write I decided to blog rather than journal. These questions will have me journal once again as they have got me thinking once again. Thanks for these ‘prompts’ as it were.

  2. This was very interesting and great to see the way to lay out tarot cards. I’ve had a set before but never really knew how to use them properly.
