February 2020: Tarot spread for the full moon in Leo

Tarot spread for the February 2020 full moon in Leo

The February 2020 full moon falls in the sign of Leo. The bold and dynamic Leo archetype infuses us with a passionate zest for living. It is the archetype of the fiery creative who is confident and unafraid of standing in the spotlight. But this infectious dynamic can quickly succumb to its shadow aspects of overbearing pride, drama and arrogance.

Spiritually, the  Leo archetype teaches the principle of creative manifestation. Clarity of thought and focus direct energy, which points to the spiritual principle that it is your beliefs about life that will shape your life. You can see this spiritual principle at play with a regular gratitude practice. As you cultivate an attitude of gratitude, you experience a significant transformation in your life and circumstances. And while your life may not change dramatically, your outlook to life leads to a shift in how you shape your life.Continue reading

Tarot forecast for February 2020

Tarot forecast for February 2020

I’ve decided to bring back the monthly tarot forecasts for the collective. I find that these are a good way to tune in to the energy around us and to use it to out advantage as we go through the month. There are months when the energy may be heavy, and these monthly tarot forecasts can help us to understand what’s going on and how we can shield ourselves from what’s happening in the collective unconscious.

I’m using the Wild Unknown Archetype cards to pull the theme or energy that we are being called to focus on as a collective, and two tarot cards from the Wild Unknown Tarot Deck to provide some additional guidance and clarity on how we can best use and understand the archetypal messages.

Tarot forecast for February 2020: The archetypal energy

February presents us with the archetype of The bridge. Two hands reach out towards one another in space and time. Between them, a rainbow bridge, below them, a colorful rainbow reflected in seemingly choppy waters.Continue reading

January 2020: Tarot spread for the new moon in Aquarius

Tarot spread for the January 2020 new moon in Aquarius

The January 2020 new moon falls in the sign of Aquarius. The independent, free-thinking Aquarius archetype encourages us to examine our inner wild self and celebrate everything that makes us unique. It is the archetype of the reformer, the idealist who strives for tolerance, unity, and a better and brighter society. The one that strives to raise awareness, consciousness, and enlighten. And despite these rather lofty ideals, the Aquarius archetype isn’t afraid to get in there and get its hands dirty. So you may feel an urgency, an excitement to just get in there and act on your plans already.

Spiritually, the Aquarius archetype teaches us how to be true to our own voice, to listen to and follow the calling of our own heart and soul. By learning how to tune in rather than out, by being true to the things that make us unique, we undertake the journey to individuation.Continue reading

January 2020: Tarot spread for the full moon in Cancer

Tarot spread for the January 2020 full moon in Cancer

The January 2020 full moon falls in the sign of Cancer. The Cancer archetype is emotional, intuitive, nurturing and healing. It also symbolizes “home” and all the things that home represents – not just our physical home, but also our emotions, energy, body, and the spiritual hearth of our souls.

Spiritually, the Cancer archetype is one of compassion, of recognising that people act to the best of their abilities, limited by their education, upbringing and current awareness. The Cancer archetype knows that love and forgiveness are the best way to respond to destructive behavior.

The January full moon also highlights our belief systems, the acquisition of knowledge and wisdom, and more importantly, what we do with that knowledge. There’s an expansive quality to this moon, and as the first full moon of this decade, it can have potentially far-reaching consequences.

December 2019: Tarot spread for the new moon in Capricorn

Tarot spread for the December 2019 new moon in Capricorn

The December 2019 new moon falls in the sign of Capricorn. Symbolized by the  mountain goat, which maintains perfect balance while it climbs over precarious rock ledges, the Capricorn archetype is one of disciplined and dogged determination towards the attainment of our worldly desires.

Spiritually, the Capricorn archetype teaches us about integrity and helps us to harness the ability to plan our work, and stick to it, no matter what. In these times of 24×7 consumption culture, it’s easy to be addicted with shiny object syndrome and forget about our goals and plans. Capricorn teaches us about the meaning of integrity: to align ourselves with our highest ideals and actualize our potential. Continue reading

A year ahead tarot spread

Year ahead tarot spread

I have a love-hate relationship with year ahead tarot spreads. While I love sinking into some dream time with planners and tarot cards, I find that the traditional 12-card tarot spread – one card that represents a theme for each month of the year – just isn’t very useful for me.

For a while, I used Joanna Powell’s year-ahead spread. While I did like that one a lot, it felt too spare for a year-ahead reading. I wanted something gloriously big and expansive, yet practical and actionable/usable.

So I pulled out my decks and came up with a gloriously big, messy, juicy year ahead tarot spread. This one combines oracle and tarot cards, and can be easily tailored to your tastes and your own unique oracle card collection.Continue reading

December 2019: Tarot spread for the full moon in Gemini

Tarot spread for the December 2019 full moon in Gemini

The December 2019 full moon falls in the sign of Gemini. The Gemini archetype is very curious, an excellent communicator, and a disseminator of knowledge. It is the sign of the writer, of those who tend to think deeply, are highly perceptive, and prefer to learn from experience.

Spiritually, the Gemini archetype is about courageous conversation, be it with another person or with the Universe. Gemini adds its vibration to the advancement of culture and civilization through conversation, be that via books or blogs or letters.Continue reading

November 2019: Tarot spread for the new moon in Sagittarius

Tarot spread for the November 2019 new moon in Sagittarius

The November 2019 new moon falls in the sign of Sagittarius. The freedom loving Sagittarius archetype is in a constant search for inspiration, new avenues of exploration, and adventure. This is a sign that gets bored of the status quo easily, and needs the rush of a new quest to keep them on their toes.

Spiritually, the Sagittarius archetype teaches us to cultivate our own personal relationship with the divine. Contrary to what most religions and a lot of spiritual teachers say, you don’t need an intermediary between you and Source/God/the Universe. You have that connection available to you at all times. Learning to tune in and trust that connection is where a lot of us seem to stumble, though. The Sagittarius archetype teaches us to trust that things will work out and that there is always a higher purpose behind everything that happens in our lives.

November 2019: Tarot spread for the full moon in Taurus

Tarot spread for the November 2019 full moon in Taurus

The November 2019 full moon falls in the sign of Taurus. The Taurus archetype is grounded and steadfast, calm and composed, firm and also somewhat stubborn. This is a sign that is practical and earthy, and is associated with material pleasures, desires, luxuriousness, and abundance.

Spiritually, the Taurus archetype teaches the principle of belonging through presence…our presence as sacred human beings…honouring the body temple…honouring the flow of life. This can be difficult given the society we live in, which praises the hustle over reverence and treats time as money rather than a finite resource that should be used wisely in the pursuit of the things that give us meaning.Continue reading

October 2019: Tarot spread for the new moon in Scorpio

Tarot spread for the October 2019 new moon in Scorpio

The October 2019 new moon falls in the sign of Scorpio. The Scorpio archetype is known for its intense power and its ability to transform, much like the butterfly emerging from its cocoon, ready to fly. The Scorpio archetype isn’t afraid of the birth-death-rebirth cycle, for it is only when parts of us die and are reborn that we can fully transform.

So perhaps it’s not surprising that spiritually, the Scorpio archetype teaches us to surrender – to align our human will with divine will. It teaches us that sometimes – dare I say most often – our human trials and tragedies have a higher purpose. They are not happening “to” us but “for” us. This is not always easy to live or to understand, especially when it comes through trauma. And yet, on the other side of trauma there is a deep transformation that we can access as we start to step out of the story and step into acceptance and find the medicine in that trauma.Continue reading
